MI5: Official Secrets at The National Archives

For this landmark exhibition by The National Archives and MI5 Security Service on MI5’s hidden history, we crafted a dynamic and immersive exhibition and campaign identity that brought the world of the 20th century era of the MI5 to life across multiple channels.

At the core of our approach is a bespoke motion and typographic language, designed to adapt seamlessly across changing media and campaign materials throughout the exhibition’s duration. Inspired by the covert nature of intelligence work, our design system features fluid, shifting typography and animated elements that echoed coded messages, scanned and redacted documents, and surveillance techniques. This visual language was applied across digital, print, and environmental media, ensuring a cohesive yet evolving narrative that mirrored the ever-changing world of security and espionage.

Our campaign extended beyond static visuals, incorporating motion and audio design that responded dynamically to context—whether through subtly shifting type on digital posters or dramatic reveals in social media assets. This adaptability reinforced the exhibition’s themes of secrecy, discovery, and transformation, engaging audiences in an interactive dialogue with the stories of MI5.
